Old Dogs
Why did we adopt a senior dog?
So, why did we adopt a senior dog?
I really don’t know. I can’t share the thought process, because there was no thought process. Certainly, there was no logic. It was as if an outside force, some unknown universal force, needed to set something right in a world of too much wrong.
His photo flashed across my social media page; it would have been easy to scroll on by. Just an old miniature long-haired dachshund, wide-eyed, disheveled, no teeth, mostly deaf, and cloudy eyes.
But there was something in his expression; he didn’t have the luxury of being dealt the right cards, but he looked determined to make the best of it. His toothless smile showed a dog who remained hopeful that everything would work out in the end, no matter how bleak things seemed.
