You taught me something today. Now I can give a better answer when someone asks, “How old is my dog in human years?”

I appreciate it!

Unfortunately, no matter how much longer we can extend their lives it will never be long enough. Every day is still worth it though.

It certainly is.

What a mug! I too am so grateful to have my Quinn in my life. He just turned 18! By the way, I too love horses.

Hey, that makes us kindred spirits!

I also think lifespan comes down to prevention, too. As an animal welfare professional in the US, there is a trend, as there is with some humans, of seeing vaccines as optional in some cases. They also see preventatives like heartworm, flea, and tick pills as unnecessary. And with that, vets have less of an oppurtunity to coach owners on feeding proper amounts and giving helpful supplements to help our furry friends live longer

Excellent point. I went through a period where I questioned the necessity for vaccines and heartworm medication. I just hate putting anything toxic into their little bodies. But ultimately dogs that enjoy preventative medicine tend to live longer.

I didn’t realize that turtles could sometimes live for 175 years! 🐢 Thank you for writing this! 💯
