I joined my daughter (and her aussie, Lucy) on their trip to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, Maine last week.
Lucy is a veteran traveler. She is quiet and easy in the car and is friendly towards everyone she meets. It’s easy to travel with her, but my daughter prepared well before bringing her on this vacation.
While many national parks allow dogs in the park, rules vary on whether they’re allowed on trails. In Yellowstone National Park, dogs are welcome, but cannot travel more than 100 feet from the roadway. Hiking with a dog on Yellowstone trails is forbidden. This rule is a sensible one that keeps people and wildlife safe. Yellowstone is home to the grizzly bear, black bear, wolves, elk, and other animals; most don’t mix well with the domestic dog.
